Accelerating High-end Home Audio System Development With Solidworks

PS Audio, a Boulder-based maker of high-end home audio systems and accessories, faced the challenge of compressing lengthy design cycles so it could expand its product line while still delivering production-ready, audiophile-grade designs. To modernize its workflow and move beyond 2D drafting, PS Audio implemented SolidWorks Standard 3D design software.

Using SolidWorks, PS Audio reduced design cycles from months to days, expanded its offering of preamplifiers, amplifiers, power regenerators, speakers and accessories, and optimized heat-sink efficiency through built-in simulation. The company also improved collaboration between mechanical and electronic teams by sharing IGES/STEP data with Altium, and realized clear time savings when customizing chassis and fabricating sheet metal.
