Accelerating cryogenic pump development with SolidWorks Professional

Nikkiso Cryo, Inc., a leading manufacturer of submerged cryogenic pumps, needed to establish a model-based engineering department at its Las Vegas facility to take over product development from its parent company in Japan and shorten lengthy delivery times. To achieve this, Nikkiso Cryo selected SolidWorks Professional as its 3D CAD solution to migrate from 2D PDFs to a solid model–based design approach.

Using SolidWorks Professional and its Routing tools, Nikkiso Cryo implemented a model-based workflow that enabled design reuse, faster test-fixture setup, and clearer customer visualization. As a result, SolidWorks helped reduce design cycle time by 33%, increase annual throughput from six pumps to over 100, cut production lead time from as long as 18 months to about 12 months, and allowed Nikkiso Cryo to assume the bulk of the corporation’s pump development while improving customer communications.
