Wkidea delivers custom wooden phone cases in just 3 hours with Solid Edge

Wkidea, a Taiwanese company specializing in high-end wooden cell phone cases, faced challenges with outsourcing production, including unfinished products and low yield rates. To gain better quality control, founder Shih-Min Kang sought an in-house solution and turned to vendor Solid Edge for its product lifecycle management software.

By implementing an integrated CAD/CAM solution from Solid Edge and CAM Express, Wkidea gained complete control over its design-through-manufacturing process. This allowed the craftsman to singlehandedly run the entire operation from 3D design to CNC machining. The solution delivered a custom wooden case in just three hours, improved productivity, and opened the door to new markets, having already sold over 2,000 cases.
