Willingshofer - Customer Case Study

Willingshofer, a fourth-generation Austrian industrial equipment manufacturer, needed to design a custom high-performance parquet floorboard production line that could run up to 360 boards per minute while eliminating errors, ensuring predictable plant behavior and cutting commissioning time. To meet this challenge the company used Solid Edge for CAD alongside Siemens’ Mechatronics Concept Designer and NX, with digitalization support from partner ACAM.

Using Solid Edge models imported into Mechatronics Concept Designer, Willingshofer built and tested a digital twin to validate kinematics, collisions and friction-driven behavior, iterate designs quickly and select components early. The Solid Edge–based workflow delivered right‑first‑time designs, avoided costly redesigns, verified plant performance before hardware build, increased reliability and shortened commissioning—enabling the customer swap‑out to be completed within a three‑week shutdown and preventing the high error rates that would have caused dozens of mishaps per hour.
