Technology hardware firm uses Teamcenter and Solid Edge to streamline operations and shorten decision lead time

Matica Technologies, a global developer and manufacturer of passport, financial card and ID issuance systems, needed to move from department-centric standalone design to enterprise-wide collaborative engineering, extend data management across the product lifecycle, and give global stakeholders access to corporate assets. To do this they adopted Solid Edge for CAD and Siemens’ Teamcenter PLM (integrated with Solid Edge) to provide a unified, CAD-integrated environment for design, documentation and change management.

Using Solid Edge together with Teamcenter (implemented with partner Team3D), Matica consolidated designs into one integrated environment, eliminated duplication, and greatly increased reuse of existing modules — they now efficiently handle models of about 1,000 parts, built a rich module library in under three years, and can prepare new project presentations in an afternoon. Solid Edge and Teamcenter shortened decision lead times, enabled cross-discipline visualization and firmware/BOM traceability, and synchronized global access via paired servers to streamline operations and speed time-to-market.
