Swiss coffee machine manufacturer optimizes development and production with Solid Edge

Thermoplan AG, a Swiss manufacturer of professional coffee machines with 270 employees serving 70 countries, faced growing systems-engineering and mechatronics complexity, integration of software systems, and strong time-to-market pressure as its machines became larger and more modular. To manage design-in-context for very large assemblies and standardize workflows across suppliers, Thermoplan AG adopted Solid Edge (CAD) with integrated product data management and visualization tools.

Using Solid Edge, Thermoplan implemented 3D CAD, integrated PDM and photorealistic rendering (KeyShot) and linked design data to its ERP, enabling modularization, supplier collaboration and streamlined ordering processes. Solid Edge allowed Thermoplan to manage assemblies of up to 3,000 parts (with a PDM containing up to 20,000 parts), deliver realistic customer presentations, support remote service and accelerate new-employee productivity — contributing to sustained growth and a clear competitive advantage.
