Case Study: Joe Gibbs Racing achieves faster weekly design turnaround and on-the-go car modifications with Solid Edge

A Solid Edge Case Study

Preview of the Joe Gibbs Racing Case Study

Siemens CAD solutions enable Joe Gibbs Racing to meet weekly deadline for producing race car components

Joe Gibbs Racing, a leading NASCAR team based in Huntersville, North Carolina, needed to conceive, design and deliver car modifications within the tight weekly race schedule while also enabling crew members with limited CAD experience to capture ideas trackside. To meet those challenges they adopted Siemens Digital Industries Software’s Solid Edge (used portably on laptops, alongside NX) as an easy-to-learn, synchronous CAD solution for rapid, on-the-road design work.

Using Solid Edge and synchronous workflows with NX, JGR engineers could design at the track, send files immediately to the shop and accelerate prototyping and manufacture—cutting modeling time, meeting weekly deadlines and saving hours up to upwards of a day on change turnarounds. The Solid Edge-enabled process delivered tangible results, such as an engine-clearance modification modeled at the track, produced and shipped before the haulers arrived, demonstrating clear improvements in speed and operational flexibility.
