A Solid Edge Case Study
Savio Macchine Tessili SpA is an Italian textile machinery maker with roots back to 1911, producing winders, twisters and rotor spinning frames at a scale of roughly 120,000 units annually. Facing intense competition and the complexity of modern mechatronic designs that require extensive testing, field validation and frequent customer-specific configuration, Savio needed to shorten product development cycles and better parallelize design and validation tasks. To address this, the company adopted solutions from Solid Edge, including Teamcenter and Solid Edge tools.
Using Solid Edge’s Teamcenter PLM alongside Solid Edge design tools, Savio restructured workflows to run project activities in parallel, standardized parts (about 95% of components are now standard) and accelerated iteration through simulation, prototyping and field testing. The Solid Edge implementation enabled on-the-fly mechatronic changes and continuous reductions in development time—effectively slashing lead time and improving Savio’s ability to deliver robust, configurable machines to market faster.
