A Solid Edge Case Study
MJC Engineering & Technology Inc., a relatively small industrial machinery firm, faced a daunting challenge when a customer, FIBA Technologies, required the world's largest CNC metal spinning machine to form massive steel tubes. The project's complexity was so great that no other company would bid on it, with one competitor even declaring it impossible. MJC used Solid Edge 3D CAD software to design this massive and complex machine.
Using Solid Edge, MJC's engineers were able to digitally model the entire 55-ton machine, creating detailed 3D images to illustrate their design concepts and build customer confidence. This capability was crucial for the small firm to win the large project. The software's intuitive interface allowed for a much faster design process; creating concept drawings for customer reviews took two hours with Solid Edge instead of two days with their previous system. The project was a success, resulting in the creation and delivery of the world's largest CNC metal spinning machine, an 80-foot long device that met all of FIBA's stringent requirements.
