Case Study: Limbic Life achieves rapid scale-up to pre-series production with Solid Edge

A Solid Edge Case Study

Limbic Life relies on Solid Edge to invent chair with virtual reality capabilities

Limbic Life, a Zurich-based company that developed the Limbic Chair for weightless sitting and VR control, faced the challenge of turning a neuroscience-driven, sensor-equipped mechanical and electronic prototype into a manufacturable, scalable product—moving from individually adapted single pieces to series production. To address this, the company relied on Siemens solutions, notably Solid Edge for design (with Teamcenter integration and NX used for manufacturing).

Using Solid Edge for 3D design and re‑engineering, integrated with Teamcenter as the single source of truth and NX for CAM, the vendor enabled standardized shell designs, CNC program generation and streamlined approvals and change management. Solid Edge helped Limbic Life move from single-piece production to pre‑series within a year, deliver error‑free cooperation between development and production, increase production scalability, support research collaborations, and certify the Limbic Chair as an input device for Solid Edge.
