Case Study: Limbic Life designs a VR-enabled relaxation chair with Solid Edge

Limbic Life prepares 2020 series production with Solid Edge after 200+ custom chair deployments

Limbic Life, a Swiss company, aimed to design and mass produce its innovative Limbic Chair, a relaxation chair with integrated motion sensors for VR control. The challenge was to transition the chair from custom-made prototypes to a design suitable for series production. They partnered with Schätti AG, which utilized Solid Edge software from Siemens to address this manufacturing and development challenge.

Using Solid Edge integrated with Teamcenter, Schätti created a new shell shape made of carbon fiber suitable for all users and prepared it for injection molding. This solution streamlined the development process and enabled the generation of CNC programs for production. As a result, Limbic Life was able to advance the chair from individual production to series production, with over 200 custom models already sold and the mass-produced version expected by 2020.
