Toong-woei, a Taoyuan City, Taiwan CNC hydraulic press brake manufacturer, needed to improve design capability and transition to higher-value, custom products. In 2015 Toong-woei implemented Solid Edge, the 3D CAD system from Siemens Digital Industries Software, to accelerate R&D, reduce production errors, and present clearer, more compelling designs to customers.

By using Solid Edge for 3D modeling, animation and simulation, Toong-woei cut its average design cycle by half, reduced assembly errors with exploded 3D views, and enabled 24/7 marketing via animated demos that help win high-end orders; a new servo-electric press brake developed with Solid Edge consumes about 50% less electricity than comparable German models. The Solid Edge implementation also sped time-to-market, supported two product launches per year, and improved overall design quality, productivity and customization capability.
