Biesse, a global Italian manufacturer of wood, glass, stone, plastic and metal processing machinery, faced a need to digitize and optimize key assets, deliver consistent product information to diverse stakeholders, and create a single source of data to feed ERP and IoT systems. The company had used Solid Edge for CAD for 15 years but lacked a full PLM solution to support collaborative design, structured processes and enterprise-wide data sharing.

To address this, Biesse implemented Siemens Teamcenter PLM with Geolus geometry search, tightly integrated with its existing Solid Edge CAD environment. The rollout moved 440 users to the new system in one day and Geolus indexed about 1.5 million items; Teamcenter created a unified platform for product information, improved CAD data certification and collaboration, reduced CAD open/save time, and cut technical-information retrieval by 10–20%, while providing a structured data source to feed ERP and future IoT initiatives.
