Industrial diaphragm maker achieves seamless transfer of tool design to manufacturing with Solid Edge

DiaCom, an Amherst, New Hampshire–based manufacturer of industrial molded diaphragms, needed to modernize its design and manufacturing processes to deliver more complex diaphragms and enter new markets (aerospace, automotive, medical, etc.). Facing limits of 2D CAD and a desire to better align design and shop-floor machining, DiaCom selected Solid Edge and Solid Edge CAM Pro as its integrated CAD/CAM solution.

By implementing Solid Edge (including synchronous and parametric modeling) and Solid Edge CAM Pro for CNC programming—with partner support from LMGi and Siemens PLM—DiaCom achieved faster, more accurate tool design and a seamless transfer of design intent to the shop floor: roughly 30% faster new designs, up to 50% faster design changes (with a recent complex mold showing 25–30% speed gains), improved accuracy, and capacity growth including a new tooling complex and about 60% expansion of design and tool manufacturing staff.
