Hydraulic power manufacturer uses Solid Edge and Simcenter Femap to reduce number of prototypes by 80 percent

Hydrauvision, a Schoondijke, Netherlands manufacturer of hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical drives, faced the need to prove its hydraulic power units could withstand rugged conditions, meet international standards (such as CSC and DNV) and reduce costly physical prototyping. To do this the company adopted Solid Edge and Simcenter Femap from Siemens Digital Industries Software for more detailed CAD, sheet‑metal and piping design plus simulation.

Using Solid Edge with add‑ons (XpresRoute, sheet metal, piping and simulation) and Simcenter Femap for finite‑element analysis, Hydrauvision accurately modeled container and unit load cases, verified stresses and certified designs. The result: an 80% reduction in physical prototypes, a Simcenter Femap prediction within 0.1 mm of test deformation, expedited CSC certification with a single physical test, faster build times and greater customer confidence in unit performance.
