Hong Chiang Technology Industry Co, a Taichung‑based developer and manufacturer of automated restaurant equipment (including the Shinkansen food delivery train), faced the need to improve complex design efficiency, accelerate product development and ensure food quality in case of system faults. To meet these challenges the company adopted Solid Edge software from Siemens Digital Industries Software to replace its previous CAD tools and support more advanced, flexible modeling.

Using Solid Edge’s synchronous modeling, a growing 3D parts library, plug‑in rendering and intuitive editing, Hong Chiang streamlined design changes, enabled photorealistic renderings/animations and automated BOM calculations. Solid Edge cut modeling time by one‑third, greatly reduced the effort to modify model vehicles (previously four to five days), supported rapid customization for 20–30 day store rollouts, and helped Hong Chiang develop a new RFID‑enabled food preservation system that improves freshness monitoring.
