Case Study: Grossmann Uhren cuts design time and launches new luxury watches with Solid Edge

A Solid Edge Case Study

Preview of the Grossmann Uhren Case Study

Grossmann uses Solid Edge and Insight to design innovative new luxury watches

Grossmann Uhren, a Glashütte-based maker of exclusive luxury watches, faced the challenge of rapidly developing and producing complex timepieces while building a team of highly qualified craftspeople and meeting the requirements to be recognized as a Glashütte watchmaker. To address these needs the company adopted Solid Edge and the Insight data-management solution from Siemens Digital Industries Software to modernize CAD, manage design variants, and support precision manufacturing.

Using Solid Edge and Insight, Grossmann implemented integrated 2D-to-3D modeling, assembly-level part modeling and centralized data management to handle frequent changes and numerous variants more quickly and transparently. Solid Edge helped the firm reduce design time, launch its first Benu model (which sold out in six months), and bring three additional watches and multiple variants to market — enabling faster innovation, clearer change tracking, and streamlined preparation of special tooling for production.
