Gdańsk University of Technology builds boats two to three times faster with Solid Edge

Gdańsk University of Technology, through its KORAB Students Scientific Association, sought to design and build competitive solar-powered racing boats. Their challenge was moving from a manual, drawing-board-based design process to a more efficient, modern method to improve their competitiveness and teach students cutting-edge skills. They implemented Solid Edge software from Siemens Digital Industries Software.

Using Solid Edge for 3D parametric modeling and technical drawings, the university streamlined its design process. This solution enabled students to design and build a third-generation, highly competitive boat. The results were significant, allowing the team to move from concept to manufacturing two to three times faster. Furthermore, access to the Solid Edge software gave students valuable skills that made them more attractive to potential employers.
