Gdańsk University of Technology builds a solar boat with Solid Edge and a 10,000 PLN grant

Gdańsk University of Technology sought to teach its students cutting-edge boat design skills and successfully compete in solar boat races, a challenge that required sophisticated design tools. They implemented Solid Edge software from Siemens Digital Industries Software to meet this need.

Using Solid Edge, students and faculty were able to design parametric 3D models of individual elements and assemblies, as well as prepare comprehensive technical drawings. The solution made students more attractive to potential employers and led to the creation of highly competitive boats, including a winning two-person vessel. A key benefit was the software's availability for installation on private computers, allowing for unlimited use beyond scheduled class hours.
