Flow control manufacturer uses Solid Edge and Simcenter Femap to improve assembly efficiency by more than 20 percent

Pentair’s Valves & Controls business unit, a global flow-control manufacturer, faced slow, error-prone design and assembly processes, safety concerns, and the need to manage multiple data formats. To address these challenges the Beijing Product Automation Center adopted Solid Edge for 3D CAD and Simcenter Femap for finite element analysis to move beyond legacy 2D drawings and improve design data management and verification.

Using Solid Edge for intuitive 3D modeling and integrating Simcenter Femap for FEA, Pentair implemented a customized quotation and parts-costing workflow and standardized design-to-purchase calculations. The result: significantly faster design cycles, more consistent designs across the product family, workshop assembly efficiency improved by more than 20 percent, dramatically reduced (virtually eliminated) product complaints, and quicker responses to downstream manufacturers. Solid Edge’s tools also enabled faster quoting and clearer shop-floor instructions, driving measurable productivity and quality gains.
