BHM Medical Inc., a Canadian designer and manufacturer of patient transfer systems, was experiencing sustained annual growth of more than 50% and needed faster, more capable CAD tools to keep up without expanding its design staff. Their previous system, Mechanical Desktop, was not comprehensive or efficient enough, so after evaluating Solid Edge, Solidworks and Inventor, BHM Medical selected Solid Edge software to improve productivity and file interoperability.

Using Solid Edge, BHM Medical streamlined drawing creation, adopted 3D models for assembly instructions, and leveraged the Parasolid kernel and built-in document management for smoother supplier collaboration. The switch made drawing production 2–3× faster initially and about 5× faster over time, enabled native data exchange with a sheet‑metal supplier (automating flat patterns and machine programming), and helped sustain consecutive years of 50%+ growth without adding product design headcount.
