Case Study: Isono Body achieves 33% faster vehicle development and cuts outsourcing with Solid Edge

A Solid Edge Case Study

Preview of the Isono Body Case Study

Dramatic improvements in product development using Solid Edge and MACsheet SEG5

Isono Body, a Japanese truck body manufacturer, faced slow, error-prone development driven by 2D CAD workflows, frequent rework, outsourcing and difficulty confirming sheet-metal fit and weight—constraints that hurt time-to-market and customer confidence. In 2012 the company adopted Solid Edge (Siemens Digital Industries Software) together with the MACsheet SEG5 add-on to move to a 3D-based product development process.

Using Solid Edge and MACsheet SEG5, Isono Body shifted to full 3D assemblies, enabling virtual fit checks, automatic weight calculations and direct conversion of 3D data to production. The results include a 33% reduction in development time (lead time cut from three months to two), dramatically fewer shop‑floor errors, reduced outsourcing and increased internal capacity, plus better collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, sales and customers.
