Digitalization opportunities in an innovative learning environment

Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK) needed to help regional manufacturers embrace digitalization while preparing students for a tightening engineering labor market. To give SMEs access to Industrial IoT and PLM workflows and provide hands-on training, SeAMK partnered with Solid Edge, deploying Solid Edge CAD and digital manufacturing tools in its teaching and RDI environments.

Solid Edge tools were integrated into the SeAMK Digital Factory and VR CAVE to let students and companies design, simulate and validate production lines and products in 3D. With input from more than 10 Ostrobothnian firms, students produced fully functional robotized production cells and enterprises can now test ergonomics, efficiency and safety virtually—accelerating digital adoption, improving graduate employability and delivering measurable prototyping and process validation benefits for local manufacturers.
