A Solid Edge Case Study
Harsh International, an agricultural machinery manufacturer, faced the need to change designs quickly, build massive customized equipment for large feedlots and dairies, and meet new environmental and energy demands. To address these challenges the company adopted Solid Edge 3D CAD software with synchronous technology from Siemens Digital Industries Software to modernize its design process and leverage existing 2D and 3D data.
Using Solid Edge and its synchronous technology, Harsh International shortened typical design cycles dramatically—cutting a job from three weeks to three days and shortening a 12–18 month large project to six months—and developed prototypes of a large-scale gasification solution for livestock waste. The Solid Edge-enabled workflow let Harsh rapidly modify imported 2D/3D models, accelerate R&D, and produce field-scale prototypes that deliver environmental benefits and potential local power generation.
