Case Study: Shark Factory achieves 50% faster machining and improved quality with Solid Edge

3D CAD and 5-axis CAM solutions from Siemens Digital Industries Software enable Shark Factory to secure a competitive advantage

Shark Factory, a Taiwan-based manufacturer of motorcycle components, needed to boost production efficiency, cut costs and protect its designs from competitors. To meet those challenges the company implemented Solid Edge and CAM Express from Siemens Digital Industries Software, added 5‑axis machining and worked with partner CADEX Technology to integrate CAD and CAM workflows.

By using Solid Edge together with CAM Express and 5‑axis machining, Shark Factory streamlined programming, enabled single‑setup runs with 40 cutting tools and automated processes. The result: machining time for a shock absorber fell from about 80 minutes to roughly 40 minutes (up to a 50% reduction), workpiece exchange was cut to ~30 seconds, and overall accuracy, quality and employee productivity increased—delivering greater flexibility, lower costs and stronger IP protection.
