Preview of the New Columbia Solar Case Study

New Columbia Solar Puts ~$30K/Year on Scoreboard for D.C. United’s Audi Field

The customer, New Columbia Solar, partnered with vendor SolarEdge to address D.C. United's challenge of creating an environmentally-friendly stadium and combatting high energy costs at the new Audi Field. The project's goal was to build a sustainable venue in line with the city's LEED rating, financed by a PACE loan.

The solution implemented by New Columbia Solar was a 627.8 kW SolarEdge system using the vendor's three-phase inverters with Synergy technology and power optimizers. This SolarEdge technology provided design flexibility for the complex canopy installation, maximizing energy yield and safety. The results are significant, with the system projected to save approximately $30,000 annually on utility bills, reduce grid dependency by 30%, and offset 556 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year.
