Suttons Tankers eliminates manual processes and makes complex work rules easy with Softworks

Suttons Tankers is a specialist logistics business transporting chemicals, gases and fuels across the UK, with over 700 drivers at around 30 locations. Although drivers record hours via digital tachographs, payroll relied on paper timesheets and spreadsheets, creating a time-consuming, error-prone process compounded by complex pay rules across more than a dozen TUPE groups.

Suttons implemented the Softworks cloud Workforce Management solution (Time & Attendance, Absence Management, Scheduling, Payroll Integration) to import tachograph data, apply configurable work/pay rules and feed accurate hours into payroll. After an 80‑driver pilot and phased rollout, manual timesheets were eliminated, payroll accuracy and responsiveness improved, and leadership gained better historical reporting and operational insights.
