A Softworks Case Study
Solo Europe Ltd, a Cambridgeshire-based manufacturer of disposable food packaging with over 400 staff and around 40 shift patterns, was struggling with a manual clocking system that was costly and labour intensive. Supervisors spent significant time collating 15,000 cardboard clockcards a year and preparing payroll reports (1.5–2 days weekly), while the company also needed reliable reporting and compliance with the Working Time Directive.
Solo Europe implemented Softworks Time & Attendance for its flexibility and built-in Working Time Directive tracking. Responsibility was devolved to supervisors, reporting and Bradford Factor tools enabled proactive absence management, and payroll processing fell to under an hour. The system paid for itself in under a year, helped cut absence to 4%, improved overtime control and compliance, and gave managers the data to reduce costs and improve workforce efficiency.
