How Beaumont Hospital is using Softworks eRostering for Non Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs)

Beaumont Hospital is a large academic teaching hospital in Dublin (about 3,000 staff and 820 beds) that needed a reliable way to manage rostering and time & attendance for its Non Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs). Key challenges were ensuring compliance with the European Working Time Directive, protecting patient safety by limiting hours and ensuring adequate rest, removing manual rostering and timesheet processes, accurately capturing hours for payroll and legislation, managing planned and unplanned absences, and integrating with HR, payroll and security systems.

Beaumont worked with Softworks to redesign policies and processes and implement an integrated eRostering solution that automates roster creation, clocking, reconciliation and payroll reporting, and provides employee self-service. The system enforces complex roster, clocking and payroll rules, supports EWTD monitoring and duty-fairness, centralises roster administration and eliminates manual timesheets—improving compliance, visibility, fairness and efficiency across the hospital (about 1,600 users) with strong positive feedback from management.
