Coolrain Sawmills Ltd., a producer of commercial timber, fencing and playground equipment that employs over 100 people and operates 22 hours a day, needed to replace its paper-based time and attendance processes after being acquired by a parent company that already used Softworks. The company wanted to digitalize clocking and payroll workflows to eliminate spreadsheets and manual timesheets and improve accuracy and payroll speed.

Coolrain implemented the cloud-based Softworks Workforce Management solution—including Time & Attendance, biometric clocking, HR, payroll integration and planned employee self‑service—working with a Softworks project manager and internal stakeholders to configure the system to site needs. The result has been elimination of paper timesheets, quicker access to accurate hours, managers resolving missed clockings and allocating time‑in‑lieu directly, streamlined payroll with automatic night‑shift capture, improved team relationships, and time savings with further HR and self‑service rollouts planned.
