American Psychological Association - Customer Case Study

The American Psychological Association, the world’s largest association of psychologists with over 117,500 members, faced enterprise-scale project management challenges as its PMs struggled to keep pace with an accelerated SDLC and a rising volume of requests. Their standard tools made it difficult to create, link, assign or drill down on work, forcing teams to use a fragmented set of tools that created resource bottlenecks and collaboration friction. To address this, they turned to SoftwarePlant’s BigPicture Enterprise add-on for JIRA.

SoftwarePlant implemented BigPicture to provide a virtual PMO with intuitive, flexible planning, integrated scheduling and resource views, and clearer visibility across teams (Operations, Custom Applications, System Development, Business Liaison). The result was greater transparency, simplified resource planning, easier identification of bottlenecks, and PMs gaining deeper clarity into timelines, risks and forecasting — improvements that helped coordinate work for initiatives such as the launch of the official online APA Style Guide.
