Zuellig Pharma, one of Asia’s largest healthcare providers, was advancing its digital transformation and needed to evaluate whether its heavily customized SAP ECC 6.0 environment could be converted to SAP S/4HANA on Azure without losing prior investments. The company also had to understand the impact on data, custom code, business processes, and integrations to critical external applications, making the conversion path and business case uncertain. SoftwareONE supported this effort with its SAP S/4HANA Pilot on Azure Program.

SoftwareONE set up a dedicated Azure pilot environment, copied Zuellig Pharma’s ECC production system, and performed a full-scale technical conversion to S/4HANA. The pilot uncovered more than 50 critical errors, analysis across around 400 customizations and 33,000+ code objects, and important master data remediation needs, while also confirming the company’s decision to pursue a conversion approach rather than a greenfield reimplementation. Completed in less than four months on a 3.2 TB system copy, the project helped Zuellig Pharma finalize its roadmap, improve change management, and better prepare for the actual S/4HANA conversion with reduced risk and clearer costs and benefits.
