SoftwareOne successfully take Royal Society of Chemistry on their journey to the cloud

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), a UK nonprofit advancing the chemical sciences, needed to modernize its aging IT estate of more than 500 Windows servers across multiple datacenters. As demand grew from researchers and global users, the organization faced end-of-life infrastructure, supportability challenges, and limitations that made a large-scale move to the cloud the most practical next step. SoftwareONE supported RSC on its journey to the cloud, with AWS selected as the target platform.

SoftwareONE implemented a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) to guide RSC’s AWS adoption across governance, DevOps, training, finance, and business alignment, using frameworks such as the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework and COBIT. The result was a clearer IT roadmap, improved processes and skills planning, and a secure, stable, scalable AWS platform. With the CCoE in place, SoftwareONE later helped migrate RSC’s first datacenter to AWS on a faster, lower-risk, and on-budget timeline.
