St Peter’s School, York, UK, an independent day and boarding school for 1,200 pupils, needed to modernize its IT infrastructure and strengthen security after a phishing attack exposed weaknesses in its Microsoft 365 environment. The small IT team also had to manage a complex mix of legacy Office and Microsoft 365 A1 licenses, while supporting secure remote learning. SoftwareONE was brought in to help with Microsoft 365 and licensing expertise.

SoftwareONE moved the school’s 1,200 student and 500 staff licenses to its 365Simple managed service with Microsoft 365 A5, and worked with St Peter’s as a technical design authority to build a zero-trust security model. The solution included Intune, Azure AD, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Cloud App Security, Defender for Identity, and Conditional Access, improving identity protection, automating security, preventing data leakage, and giving the school better visibility and control over licenses and cloud spend through PyraCloud.
