HIGHVOLT, a German manufacturer and energy-sector partner supporting underground extra-high-voltage projects like SüdLink and SüdOstLink, needed a secure and scalable way to digitize, store, and process the massive data volumes generated by its HiMON® cable monitoring system. The challenge was handling up to 100 TB of sensor data per month from as many as 2,000 sensors while meeting the high availability and security demands of critical infrastructure. SoftwareONE was brought in to help build a cloud-based architecture using Microsoft Azure services.

SoftwareONE designed and implemented the HiMON® platform on Azure, using Azure IoT, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Key Vault, Azure Entra ID, Azure Monitoring, Azure Sentinel, and security services such as WAF and DDoS Protection. The solution enabled real-time processing, fault localization, and future AI-driven predictive maintenance, while improving scalability, automation, and security. As a result, HIGHVOLT can analyze cable issues faster and more precisely, reduce operating effort, and support the reliable transmission of green energy across Germany.
