What's after VDI Replacing virtual desktops with application virtualization at PSU

Pittsburg State University wanted a way to deliver software to students anywhere on campus without the high cost and infrastructure burden of a full VDI rollout. After initially pursuing VDI, the university found it would not meet its goal of providing broad access to applications across its 78 computer labs, especially for GPU-heavy software.

Software2 helped Pittsburg State University implement AppsAnywhere with Cloudpaging application virtualization to deliver apps on demand through a branded portal called GUSWare. The solution let the university enforce licensing and access controls while running apps locally on student devices, delivering fast performance and simplifying VDI to just a couple of gold images; Pitt State also expects to reduce its physical labs by more than 50%.
