Delivering BYOD with AppsAnywhere for Students at Canada's Georgian College

Georgian College, a large Ontario-based college serving 11,000 full-time students across seven campuses, wanted to improve the student experience and support a BYOD strategy while reducing the IT burden of maintaining Windows application access. The college turned to Software2 and its AppsAnywhere/S2Hub Cloudpaging application virtualization technology to help make software more available and flexible for students and staff.

Using Software2, Georgian College virtualized dozens of Windows applications for campus labs, including complex tools like SPSS, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and Sage 300, and deployed the client across nearly 1,400 academic PCs. The result was 100% delivery of attempted Windows apps in labs, over 30 applications packaged in the first four months, faster patching and updates, reduced imaging time, and a strong first step toward providing any student with self-service access to any Windows application on any device.
