Delivering Apps to Any Device Using Application Virtualization at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid

Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) needed a more efficient and user-friendly way to deliver a wide range of software applications to students and staff across its campus and beyond. After considering traditional VDI and other application virtualization options, the university turned to Software2 and its AppsAnywhere platform to meet the challenge of supporting many Windows applications, including difficult-to-virtualize ones, without relying on expensive desktop infrastructure.

Software2 implemented AppsAnywhere to deliver applications quickly to any device, reduce logon times and IT administration, improve timetabling and asset management, and lower software licensing costs. The solution enabled UAM to virtualize 100% of its apps with a very small server footprint and at a fraction of the cost of the original VDI approach; the university had already packaged and deployed over 90% of its software applications, with plans to fully overhaul campus-wide provisioning over the summer.
