A Software for Good Case Study
The customer, Twin Cities Food Justice, is a volunteer-run organization that fights food waste by rescuing and redistributing food. Their challenge was that their existing volunteer scheduling application, adapted from Boulder Food Rescue, required excessive manual work and did not meet their specific needs, creating inefficiency for their busy team.
The vendor, Software for Good, updated the application through full-stack web development to simplify and streamline the scheduling of volunteer shifts and food rescues. This more efficient and reliable platform, built with Ruby on Rails and JavaScript, allowed Twin Cities Food Justice to scale their operations, ultimately enabling them to rescue and deliver more food to people in need.
