HousingLink rolls out Housing Hub with Software for Good

HousingLink, a nonprofit affordable housing resource, faced the challenge of an overwhelmingly complicated and inefficient process for managing Project-Based Section 8 housing wait lists, which was particularly difficult for renters in urgent need. They engaged the vendor Software for Good for product strategy and human-centered design services to help validate their plans and build a centralized platform to simplify this system.

Software for Good conducted in-depth user research and developed the Housing Hub platform with a mobile-first application for renters and a desktop dashboard for property managers. The solution was designed with empathy as its core feature, using minimal copy and clear calls to action to create a user-friendly experience for people in stressful situations. The Housing Hub is now rolling out and has the potential to transform the affordable housing wait list process.
