Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) is a top global shipping and logistics company with a large fleet and a worldwide network of subsidiaries and offices. Seeking to boost operational efficiency and customer service, HMM implemented SAP ERP, which increased IT heterogeneity and created a need for seamless communication across disparate systems, faster processing, and data synchronization without heavy custom coding—all while keeping costs low.

HMM selected Software AG’s webMethods platform (with local consulting from CUDO) to integrate SAP, legacy mainframe applications and other systems; the year‑long project went live in January 2010. The solution preserved existing applications, enabled real‑time data access, simplified master‑data matching, halved operational costs by avoiding expensive SAP-based non‑SAP integrations, and has run stably since, with plans to extend use beyond finance and accounting.
