WebMethods BPMS Speeds Processing of 7,500 Pieces of Mail - From Days to Hours

UNIQA Group Austria, a leading Central European insurer with 7 million customers and operations in 20 countries, faced a major operational bottleneck: its nine Austrian state offices received up to 7,500 pieces of paper mail daily, and manual sorting, assignment and scanning meant documents often took days to reach the right administrator, driving up costs and slowing service.

Using Software AG’s webMethods BPMS, UNIQA automated the end-to-end document flow—OCR scanning by an outsourcing partner, rule-based classification and metadata transfer to Braintribe DMS, and delivery into electronic in-baskets with integrated administrator desktops. The rollout reduced processing from days to one–two hours, sped distribution of up to 7,500 items/day, improved assignment accuracy, tracking and accountability, eliminated manual scanning and established a flexible foundation for ongoing BPM-driven cost and efficiency gains.
