Case Study: Suva achieves comprehensive corporate documentation and stronger governance with Software AG's ARIS

A Software AG Case Study

Suva improves agility with enterprise architecture management

Suva, founded in 1918, is an independent Swiss public-corporation insurer with about 4,100 employees that provides prevention, insurance and rehabilitation services to some 123,000 companies and 1.97 million workers. Faced with complex, heterogeneous IT systems and highly interdependent business processes, Suva needed tighter alignment of business strategy and IT, stronger corporate governance, and end-to-end, single-source documentation to manage architecture, processes and user authorizations.

Suva implemented Software AG’s ARIS as the backbone of enterprise architecture management and corporate documentation, using a service-oriented EAM model and a central business architecture plus a service catalog to match new requirements to existing IT services. The result is sustainable, future-proof governance and better business–IT collaboration: IT now acts as consultant/moderator, complexity and costs are reduced through informed reuse or outsourcing decisions, processes integrate with an enterprise wiki, ITIL and authorization management, and Suva has more rapidly and cost‑effectively met new business needs.
