A Software AG Case Study
SOKA-BAU (including the ULAK and ZVK funds) is the social insurance service provider for the German building industry, supporting about 77,000 companies, 740,000 employees and 380,000 pensioners. Faced with a heterogeneous, hard-to-scale IT landscape that stored data redundantly and risked losing an already high level of automation, the organization needed to modernize its systems while preserving industry‑specific processes such as leave-entitlement accounting.
SOKA-BAU implemented a make‑and‑buy modernization based on a service-oriented architecture using ARIS for process modeling and webMethods for process execution and control. Redesigned reporting components for vacation and training reimbursements and strengthened business rules enabled more cases to be fully automated, lifting automation from about 80% to over 90% and delivering greater agility, improved service quality and lower IT operating costs.
