A Software AG Case Study
Metro Bank, founded in 2010 as the first new mainstream U.K. bank in over a century, grew rapidly—reaching millions of customers, dozens of branches and billions in assets—while relying on spreadsheets and lacking a unified process-management and enterprise-architecture capability. That rapid expansion, together with the looming EU GDPR deadline, created urgent needs for scalable governance, traceable data handling and formalized process documentation.
Using Software AG’s ARIS and Alfabet, Metro Bank quickly moved from manual records to a governed platform: it mapped 280 processes, created 1,000+ GDPR models and 250 OCIR processes, and established enterprise-architecture roadmaps. The initiative met GDPR deadlines, delivered ROI in under three months, supported governance and IT planning, and coincided with business milestones including the bank’s first profitable year (2017) and record deposit growth (£15.7bn in 2018).
