Making What Matters Work With Adabas & Natural for Ziiptm

Eaton, a global power management company with 96,000 employees and $20.4B in 2017 sales, was facing recurring mainframe CPU capacity limits that caused latency and slowed its U.S. order management system. With their BC12 mainframe nearing the end of its marketing life, Eaton needed a solution that avoided expensive hardware upgrades while handling growing batch and online transaction demand.

Eaton implemented Software AG’s Adabas and Natural for zIIP after a successful trial, which offloaded more than 90% of workload to the zIIP engine and immediately cut average MSUs roughly in half (from the 70s to below 35). The change eliminated latency, improved order processing and user experience, reduced monthly IBM charges, avoided costly hardware purchases, and delivered sustainable savings with minimal implementation effort.
