Georgia-Pacific - Customer Case Study

Georgia-Pacific’s Port Hudson Operations, a major paper and pulp mill, needed better visibility into equipment rentals and other business data while it transitioned corporate technology toward SAP and Microsoft. Their legacy purchasing system didn’t provide reliable rental tracking and users needed a cost-effective, PC-accessible way to run reports and build applications without disrupting operations or delaying migration plans.

They implemented CONNX, an ODBC driver that was quick to learn and far less expensive than alternatives, enabling direct PC access to legacy files and rapid report development in tools like Access. The solution delivered faster reporting, tighter rental control (cutting excess rental time by two to three days), and projected annual savings of $100,000–$200,000, and has since been extended to multiple reporting areas—prolonging the value of legacy systems while speeding development and preserving security.
