A Software AG Case Study
FGR Automation, an engineering firm specializing in industrial control and automation, was asked to address a safety and compliance challenge at a remote phosphate mine in Utah with no grid power or internet. Manual data collection was slow, hazardous and often impossible in extreme conditions, leaving borehole stability, moisture and pressure unmonitored and putting workers, production and the environment at risk.
FGR installed solar power and rugged IoT sensors and partnered with Cumulocity IoT to capture, analyze and alert on real-time data. The solution delivers field and headquarters dashboards, faster pre‑permitting, fewer site visits, improved worker safety and early warning of geotechnical or environmental issues—capabilities now being extended to other mines and manufacturing lines.
