Case Study: Leading Central Bank achieves integrated digital banking and major cost reductions with Software AG's webMethods

A Software AG Case Study

Preview of the Leading Central Bank Case Study

Building an Integrated Digital Bank

A nearly 50-year-old central bank—responsible for issuing currency, setting monetary policy and supervising the country’s banks—faced growing market complexity, new FinTech entrants and an internal legacy-application landscape built in silos. Leadership decided to become a regional innovation hub, but needed a structured enterprise integration approach to avoid systemic risk and costly inefficiencies as it adopted best-of-breed banking, HR, e-banking and real-time systems.

Starting in 2006 the bank implemented Software AG’s webMethods suite (including ApplinX, EntireX and later BPMS) to modernize mainframe assets, create a strategic integration layer and automate processes. The initiative ensured mission‑critical application functionality, enabled new technology and partner integrations (APIs, mobile, big data), cut development and maintenance costs through reusable assets, strengthened compliance and helped position the bank as a digital leader supporting stable financial-sector growth.
