BPM Sets All the Signals to Green for Software Development

DB Netz AG, the infrastructure arm of Deutsche Bahn responsible for more than 61,000 km of track and 70,000 switches, faced fragmented application development, duplicated data and frequent format conversions that extended project timelines and raised costs. The IT organization needed a standardized, scalable way to turn daily requirements into reliable software quickly and consistently across the enterprise.

Working with Software AG, DB Netz implemented a BPM-based “IT toolbox” using ARIS, webMethods and CentraSite and adopted the Model-to-Execute methodology, aligning its in‑house ADITE process model and creating a semantic framework for direct model‑to‑execution. The result: elimination of format conversions, faster reuse and handoff to service providers, up to 40% shorter project durations and up to 25% lower development costs, with higher-quality, better-documented software deliveries.
